Abo the Student Village Foundation of Turku offers several housing options. Please see here for more information. All rooms have bathrooms and access to cooking and laundry facilities. Married student and family housing is available. Vasa Student housing is situated nearby, 1-2 km from campus. Students are housed in single rooms within a shared apartment with a shared kitchen and a private bathroom. Married/co-habitation student housing is available.
Additional Notes:
The Student Union membership fee is obligatory for all university students in Finland. The membership includes many benefits such as health care services, subsidized meals at the student restaurants and discounts on train and bus tickets. Please note that this is not a tuition fee and it is collected by the Student Union and not by the university.
The membership fee should be paid after arrival. The Student Union fee for the academic year 2015-2016 is 116 € (58 € for one semester). Please print a receipt of the payment. You will need this until you have your student card in order to prove that you are a member of the student union.
Students who will be staying longer than 90 days, they will be required to obtain a resident permit to study in Finland. A trip to the Finnish Consulate in New York is required in order to obtain the applicant’s biometrics. The resident permit fee is approximately 330 €.
